|Mohawk flat bag featuring a bluejay standing on a
spruce branch with MONTREAL beaded on the
front of the bag. This piece was most likely made
at the Kahnawake Reserve outside
Montreal, c. 1920.
The material has faded uniformly from what appears to
have been pink (under flap). All original fabric and
beadwork intact, including metal hook and eye closure.
Measures: 5 inches high by 6 inches wide (13.5 inches
long from top of handle to bottom of dangles.)
|Wonderfully clever and whimsical depiction of a deer resting among the pines. The red velvet
is in superior condition, all bead work and fabric is original and intact. Beaded with the word
SOUVENIR on the front, this needle case retains its original metal snap closure and double
twined handle. The interior is teal blue polished cotton with a heavily padded middle
section for pins. It is probably Mohawk, c. 1920-25.
Measures: 4.75 inches high by 6.50 inches wide folded (13 inches long from
top of handle to bottom of dangles).
